How to buy finishing materials wholesale in Indonesia
How to order facade and wall finishing materials in bulk in Indonesia: what to prepare, how samples and project batches work, and how to compare supplier quotes.
Who buys wholesale, and why it differs from retail
Wholesale finishing materials are bought by developers, contractors, architects' procurement teams, interior fit-out companies, hotel groups and resellers. The difference from retail is not only the price per square metre. It is the process: you order for a defined scope, you need the same finish and shade across the whole project, you plan deliveries around a site schedule, and you want someone to answer technical questions before the money is spent.
That is why a good wholesale conversation begins with the project, not with a price list. A price without a scope, a finish, a delivery location and a schedule is a guess.
What to prepare before you ask for a quote
A supplier can only quote seriously if it knows what you are building. Gather this before you write:
- Scope: facade, interior, or both; which walls, columns, curved elements and wet areas.
- Area: approximate square metres per finish, from drawings or a measured survey.
- Finish shortlist: travertine, brick, concrete, wood, clay, metal or others. The range includes 30+ finishes in seven texture series.
- Substrate: concrete, brick, plaster, drywall, plywood; new build or retrofit.
- Location and schedule: the delivery address and when material is needed on site.
- Photos or drawings: a few photos of the wall or an elevation make the conversation much faster.
If you do not know the area yet, say so. A supplier can help you estimate it, including an allowance for cuts and waste.
Samples come first
Never place a bulk order from a screen. Colour, relief and gloss look different on a monitor than on a wall under tropical light. A sample lets you:
- compare the finish against your design and your client's expectations;
- cut it, bend it and try it with the adhesive you plan to use;
- leave it outside through a few rain showers and a few days of sun;
- show it to the client, the architect and the installers before sign-off.
Request samples for the shortlisted finishes only. Mark the finish names so you can order exactly what was approved. If you want to see how a finish looks on a real building, our collection page shows finished facades and interiors.
MOQ, project batches and pricing: what we confirm and what we do not publish
Wholesale terms depend on the finish, the quantity, the delivery location and the stage of the project. For that reason this page does not list a fixed minimum order, price tiers, lead times or stock figures. We confirm these per project, in writing, after we know your scope.
| Topic | What you provide | What we confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum order (MOQ) | Finish and approximate area | Minimum for that finish and project type |
| Wholesale price | Total area and delivery location | Price per square metre and any quantity terms |
| Project batch | Full list of finishes and quantities | How the order can be supplied to keep colour consistent |
| Lead time | Required on-site date | Realistic delivery schedule |
| Phased delivery | Site phases and storage options | Whether the order can be split |
When you compare offers, make sure they are for the same finish, thickness and sheet size, and that delivery is either included or clearly stated.
Logistics across Indonesia
Indonesia's geography makes delivery part of the product. A thin, light material helps: 4-7 kg/m² and a 3-5 mm sheet mean more area per shipment than heavy stone and less handling at the other end. STRATA supplies across Bali, Jakarta, Medan and Bandung, and supports installation with material selection, guidance and after-sales. See the city pages, such as Bali, for local information.
Plan delivery around site conditions: access road width, unloading point, covered storage and who receives the goods. Keep the packaging closed until installation, store sheets flat in a dry, shaded place and check the quantity at delivery before signing.
A practical ordering sequence
- Week zero: send the scope, photos or drawings and the finish shortlist.
- Next: receive samples, test them on site with your installer, and confirm the finishes.
- Then: get a written quotation based on the approved finishes, areas and delivery location.
- Before ordering: agree the adhesive, substrate preparation and who is responsible for each.
- At delivery: check quantities, finish names and packaging condition.
- During installation: keep a contact for technical questions. See the installation guide for the working method.
These steps do not require exact lead-time promises from either side. They require clear approval points so nothing is ordered before it is confirmed.
What a good first message looks like
You do not need a formal tender document to start. A short message with the right facts saves several rounds of questions. For example: "Villa development in Canggu, about 400 m² of facade plus two interior feature walls, concrete block substrate, shortlisted travertine and light clay finishes, material needed on site in two months, delivery to the project address." From that, we can reply with suitable finishes, the samples to send and what we need to confirm.
Attach two or three photos or an elevation drawing if you have them. If you are a reseller or designer rather than a contractor, say so, because the order pattern is different and so are the questions.
Red flags when choosing a supplier
- A price with no scope, no finish name and no delivery terms.
- Refusal to provide samples before a large order.
- Claims of fire ratings, certificates or test results without documents for the exact product.
- No answer on adhesives, substrates or installation.
- No contact for questions after delivery.
Questions about the material itself are answered in our FAQ, and company information is on the about page. For project requests, use the contact page.
