What is flexible ceramic?

The thin, bendable stone-look panel that's changing facades and interiors.

Flexible ceramic — also called soft stone or MCM (modified clay material) — is a thin, bendable sheet that looks and feels like natural stone, brick or wood, but weighs a fraction as much and installs with adhesive.

What it's made of

Flexible ceramic is produced from natural stone powder and a modified mineral binder, cast in moulds taken from real stone and finished with a protective, UV-stable coating. The result is a 3–5 mm sheet that reproduces the pores, veins and relief of the original material.

Because the composition is mineral rather than plastic, the panels are Class A1 non-combustible and free of formaldehyde — a key difference from many decorative wall products.

How thin and light is it?

A typical panel is 3–5 mm thick and weighs 4–7 kg/m² — roughly 15–20× lighter than natural stone of the same coverage. That means no structural reinforcement, cheaper logistics and faster installation.

The panels also bend to a radius from about 20 mm, so they wrap columns, arches and curved walls that would be impossible or very costly in rigid slabs.

Where can you use it?

Flexible ceramic works on both exterior facades and interior walls: villa and commercial facades, feature walls, columns, reception desks, and even wet areas like bathrooms and spas thanks to its hydrophobic treatment.

In tropical climates like Indonesia's, its resistance to moisture, mould and UV makes it especially well suited to both coastal and jungle environments.

How is it installed?

Panels glue directly onto flat or curved substrates — concrete, brick, plaster, drywall, plywood — using a suitable adhesive. They cut with a knife or shears, with no tile saw and no dust, so a skilled team can clad large areas quickly.
